Folsom 2009 Recap
If you’re looking for a dirty, nasty, sex-filled post, you better stop reading now. I’m still going to be in SF for one more night, but staying with a friend (thanks Buck/PC) in SSF and I don’t think it’s going to be sex-filled.
I shared the weekend with my good friend Shane from Dallas. He used to live in Austin, but ran away. We went down to the Castro and grabbed some dinner at Firewood. It’s a decent place and almost every SF local will mention it for dinner in the Castro. After dinner we met up with Buck, PC and some of their friends at 440/Daddies to relax and catch up.
After a quick costume change back in our hotel, the Carriage Inn (very nice hotel – I’d recommend it), we headed to Chaps II because the line for Powerhouse was like 2 blocks long. I might have made out with a couple guys and gotten my cock sucked a little, but still just went back to the hotel with my friend Shane.
Saturday included breakfast at Mel’s Dinner, then I went off the the BigMuscle(Bears) party. It’s my favorite party of the weekend usually because it’s in the afternoon, people haven’t gotten high on the drugs yet, and there are tons of hot guys that are nice. I met Andy, one of the owners of BM/BMB. He was very nice.
I also did meet a nice little kinky muscle stud at the party that I brought back to my hotel. We played around a bit, but it was cut short because my roommate came back to the room. He was a really nice guy too. If I lived in SF, I definitely would have enjoyed spending some more time with him. Luckily I did see him a couple more times throughout the weekend. That night I went to Magnitude, which is split between a dance/circuit party and a sex party. It was alright, but people weren’t very friendly. I actually found the same was true of the Real Bad party Sunday night. People seemed to be very focused on their friends, or getting some sex. There was no room to meet new people.
People at the Folsom Street Fair on Sunday were very friendly though. It was a great time, filled with so many friends from all around the world, and also some space to meet new friends. There’s always the freaks out there wearing something crazy, but it’s what makes Folsom fun, and we’re all crazy in our own way.
I didn’t see too much naughty stuff going on, maybe some cock sucking, but that’s it. There were also reports of a guy jacking off one of the roofs which I’ve seen in past years. The music on the different stages was pretty good this year. Normally there are some crazy bands that are only at Folsom because they’re gay, but this year was pretty good.
After the street fair and some food we went to the Real Bad party which I already mentioned. It’s pretty strictly a leather circuit party. There’s some fondling that goes on, but that’s about it. I only stayed a couple hours, then went back to the hotel and crashed.
Here we are at today… just chilling and relaxing after the weekend. Hung out with Moby and Shane most of the afternoon.
The whole weekend was nice. It was great to see so many people, including known and unknown followers of my blog and Twitter.

That’s a great pic of you in your suspenders. Your gym time is really paying off.
I’m a SF virgin and I’ll be heading there in November, but it’s great to read about your experience in such a brash and honest way. Can you recommend some gay bars or venues around Market Street that I could visit, preferably ones that have a bear/cub clientele?
There are actually very few bars in SF that are twink bars. You’ll see when you get here that SF is pretty much bear heaven. If you take the Muni down to the Castro, it’s about 4 stops and costs $2 (make sure you have $1 bills or quarters!!). You should check out 440, aka Daddies, right on Castro. There are some other bars in that area you’d probably enjoy also.
As for the SOMA (South of Market) area, there are the more leather-ish bars such as Powerhouse, Chaps, Truck and some others. I’d recommend the Castro if you only have 1 night just because of the high number of bars and the close proximity to eachother.
Thanks for that. I’ll be staying at least a week and I’ll be making sure to visit the venues you recommended. BTW, I just exchanged AU$1000 into USA$880, isn’t that great value?
[...] and are very reliable. I’ve bought products from them many times, visit their booths at both Folsom and IML. A very professional and well organized company. They offer both gay and straight products [...]
